After Having a Baby, I’m a Real Mother Now

I Miss You, Chicago October 15, 2008

With a decided lack of independent and tasty restaurants, and a definite dearth of shopping in the greater Nashville area (I’m talking non-chain, people), I really, really miss Chicago. The fact that the temperature is STILL in the 80s here is also driving me nuts. Say what you want about the Chicago winters, but I’ll take those any day over an endless heatwave. Shouldn’t I be wearing at least a jacket by now? You’d think. Shouldn’t I be able to find a Chipotle here? You’d think one chain would be just as plentiful as another. Alas, no.

Next year, I gotta go for a visit, and my hope is to do that at least once a year after that. My 4 years in the city (the year in the burbs just doesn’t count) in many ways were not enough.

Of course, that’s because I always have a parking space here and am not surrounded by trixies on the Brown line every day.

There’s no going back now. We bought a minivan. I must say, the amount of cargo space and the number of cupholders is dreamy. Now if I could only learn to park the beast, I’d be rolling. I promised my neighbor across the street that we’d grab some Snoop Dogg and hit the local Olde Time Pottery store. Middle-aged mommy cruising, you know.
