Red Lights Are Expensive in LA November 8, 2007

Last week, we got a little surprise souvenir from our trip to LA: a $380 ticket for running a red light. The notice had pictures of the rental car at the intersection, a close-up of the license plate, and a close-up of the hubby, who was driving. It was rather creepy, but obviously more annoying than anything. Almost $400 for running a red light (supposedly) at 7:57 a.m. on Sunday with no other traffic in sight? Doesn’t the LAPD have bigger fish to fry in that godforsaken town? I’m not saying that we shouldn’t be penalized for violating the law, but FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS for a red light? Really? Guess they have to pay for all of those expensive intersection cameras somehow. Fuckers.
